It was year 4 for the Mother’s Day Mom in the Picture portrait pop-up to benefit Birth Roots Center for Community Supported Parenting in Portland on Thursday night (scheduled for Friday, but we bumped to Thursday when the forecast called for rain on Friday. Thank you ALL for your flexibility, that was a wise move!). The fundraiser that initially started with our formal photo booth evolved to a mini portrait studio in year 2 after recognizing the incredible opportunity to capture so.many.moments in such a short, stress-free period of time: Two minutes per family, 60 families in three hours. It’s now my favorite tradition. I have loved watching so many of these families grow over time and the challenge of assembling wiggly or sometimes shy or unsure little ones against our white backdrop in the parking lot of the Birth Roots State Street location. The result is mystical, as founding director Leah, described it. I can’t thank you ALL enough for your kindness, openness, playfulness, love and grace. I am so humbled to capture the connection between you and yours and look forward to doing it again and again and again! Love you!
